What is Sunlight Learning? 

Sunlight Learning is not just a course, but a journey into a new way of life for parents and carers of Neurodivergent Autistic children with Special Educational Needs and/or a Disability so they can be both

Empowered and Encouraged

The unique aspect of the Sunlight Learning concept is that it uses 

Teaching, Life-Coaching and Mentoring techniques to enable parents and carers to;​

  • Invest in their family, by empowering them with practical educational skills and knowledge through a series of 8 interactive Skills Workshops.This will empower and enable them to positively engage with and support their child/ren at home.

  • Make a successful change happen in their home, either through just learning new skills during the workshops or through ongoing bespoke individual discussions and support with Ann Saunders. This will enable them to successfully implement their skills and knowledge into their family life and make a positive difference in the whole family’s life.

  • Get to know other families facing similar issues and challenges through Family Socials. This happens either through interactive Play Day sessions for all the family or online Coffee and chat sessions.  

Course Details 

Sunlight Family learning course is made up of 3 distinct parts

·      Educational Skills Workshops

  • The 8 interactive workshops run over 2-3 months (Nov 2024 – Jan 2025)

  • All workshops are led by Ann Saunders live for the whole group.

  • The online workshops are shared via Microsoft Teams between 8.00pm- 9.30pm. 

  • During the course families receive a workbook covering the content of the workshops and includes family review questions.

  • Cost for all 8 sessions - £60 (£7.50 per session) which covers admin costs only  

      Individual Family Sessions

  • The Individual Family Sessions are planned as and when requested by families after completing the 8 Workshop sessions within the last 12months.

  • The 5-6 Individual family Sessions are led by Ann Saunders. Initially the discussion will occur in the family home, then subsequent discussions can occur online via Microsoft Teams

  • Ann Saunders uses coaching and mentoring techniques (running through the series of questions outlined in the model) to encourage and empower the family to make a positive difference in family life by implementing their new skills and knowledge into their family life.

  • During the series of sessions families receive access to a private group within Microsoft Teams with resources and written records of discussions

  • Support, advice, a written plan and the creation of some printed laminated visual resources can happen with Ann Saunders via the phone, email or through the Teams chat facility

  • Cost for all sessions - £60 (approx £10 per session) plus travel costs (to be negotiated) 

 

  • Further Consultation sessions can occur following a request from the family

  • These discussion sessions will focus on areas suggested by the family

  • Cost for 2 sessions - £30 (£15 per session) or 4-6 sessions - £50

·        Family Socials

  • All families are invited to attend the FREE Family Socials as often as they want

  • Play Days occur in Salisbury where the whole family can play together and meet other families

  • Coffee & Chat occur via Teams in an evening for parents to meet other families

  • Cost for all family socials – Free

If families commit to completing both Workshops and Individual Family sessions within 12 months there’s a reduction in cost to £100 total – a reduction of £20
